African Americans are an oppressed nationality in America. They are probably the most oppressed during much of our history, and their oppression continues today in the form of wage gaps and discrimination. Since they do not share a common language, except English, some people want to move them out of the "nationality" column. But the oppression of the centuries has forced them together, no matter what languages their ancestors may have spoken in Africa. Please read the essay, or at least choose another answer

Asian-Americans probably shouldn't be lumped together, because there are great differences in how they happened to be in the United States, the languages they spoke, and how they are treated here. But they are oppressed nationalities all the same. Please read the essay, or at least choose another answer

They aren't the same. Contrast women's rights with immigrant rights, for example. Women aren't necessarily workers because gender crosses class lines, but nearly all Mexican immigrants are workers. Low-paid workers at that! Please read the essay, or at least choose another answer

RIGHT! It's the extra problems that national minorities have that make them a special problem. Racism is probably the biggest problem, but language problems and confusion over their home countries may make it even worse. Thanks for working this little module. Your feedback is important
